Where does the time go???

Wow. I just noticed it has been 8 weeks since my last post. Man, having a baby must keep you so busy that you become outdated in your blog. I also noticed I didn't put up any pictures lately...including adding pictures to my past posts. So I am going to do it now!

So much has happened since I last wrote. Looks like the last thing that I wrote about was still being in that awful hospital. Well, they let me go early! I was supposed to leave on Friday and I got outta there on Wednesday. If I had to stay another day in that dingy hospital I would have died!

Lauren is taking to Kaeden very well. She has been an amazing sister. She helps out wherever she can and she is always happy to see Kaeden. She always greets him with a sweet "baaaby Kaaaaeden!" and shouts "hold baby Kaeden, hold baby Kaeden". They are the bestest of friends (as you can tell by the picture!).

This morning she woke up and I was changing his diaper. She went to hug his head and he smiled at her! 8 weeks of hearing her loving voice and I think he finally realized it was his big Sister! It was so cute!

Kaeden is growing big. He's finally starting to get chubby arms and legs to match that big chubby head of his. For the longest time he had this big chubby head and then you would remove the blanket only to see skinny bird legs and arms! What a satellite he had on top of those shoulders. Reminds me of that movie So I Married an Ax Murderer where the dad makes fun of his kid's large head. LOL.

He has started moving a bit more, but is still just kinda laying there. He looks around and see alot more now. I can tell he sees things because he gets a scared look on his face when I come into his sight too fast. He stares at the lights because they are bright and he's always facing that direction cuz he's laying down! He wiggles around alot and gets out of the tightest swaddles I can make! I tried to prop him up for a picture, but he just looks uncomfortable!!

All in all, we have been doing great. We are getting used to schedules, going back to school and work, and just trying to get by. Time sure does fly when you are busy chasing after one kid and figuring out what the other one needs!! I will try to keep you updated on everything that's happening...so check back often!

thank you!!

just wanted to tell my friends and family "thanks" for all
your comments and keeping up with the entire birth by reading the blog. It was the only way for me to reach everyone at
once.

It's Wednesday morning and kaeden was circumcised thus morning. It was a quick, and seemed like painless, procedure. I was worried for him, but he is sleeping soundly like nothing is bothering him.

I am hoping they will let me go home today. I am waiting on the docs to
visit us today.

Eric is putting up pictures on the website
as I type this up. You should be able to view them at the following link:

it's a boy!

its almost 4am and I just woke up to feed kaeden. Sorry I didnt update you about all the action, but I was high as a
kite during the whole thing.

First of all, it was really scary. I was truly nervous and that is rare for me and surgical procedures. As they were prepping me in the O.R., I started to get nervous. They didnt let Eric in during the prepping. And they started the incision just as he walked in. I was a little upset with them about that because I really needed him.

I started to shake really bad and they kept asking me if I was cold. I wasn't cold just scared that they were about to cut a baby out of my body! It went by really fast. My anesthesiologist was great and walked me through the entire thing. That was very helpful.

When they pulled kaeden out, he started to cry. He kinda sounded like a duck with all that liquid in his lungs. It was weird hearing him and not seeing him because there was a big sheet covering everything. When they brought him around for me to see, you could just see his perfect little body! He was so beautiful and a very good size! While the nurses were cleaning him up, eric said the nurses kept saying he was a "nine ten". They kept saying it over and over and made a point to tell the doctor. Finally, eric had to ask what they were talking about. It was his color...he had near perfect skin color. He was perfect pink color. Not too white and not to yellow...just right.
He also has lots more hair then LT had. It's red and blonde! You can totally tell he's eric's kid.

So I was told by the anesthesiologist that I would pretty much be numb all over. I was! It was as if I was paralyzed. I also was very sleepy. I thought he gave me something to make me drowsey, but he didnt. He just kept injecting stuff into my epidural. I passed out, but could hear everything going on around me. It was so weird. I even paniced while passed out thinking I could slowly slip into death. When I would wake up, I was so dizzy and the room was spinning. The guy would start injecting my line with stuff to fix that, but it wasnt helping. I was completely loopy and barely remember anything.

Personally, I am bummed about it. I wanted to remember all this stuff but couldn't. So if I had to pick, I would take the pain of the vaginal labor any day!
So Kaeden Zane Thompson was born at 8:56 on Monday, February 11, 2008. He weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces. He was 20-1/2 inches! The whole thing from start to finish was 13 long hours.

Okay, well I am getting sleepy and wanna pass out again!!! Pictures coming soon!

under the knife

thank you for your prayers!

It looks like I am still 3 cm dilated and the baby's head is not
making any progress. Therefore we are going in for a csection.

The reason is probably the baby is too big and his head might be tilted.

Gotta go! They are prepping me.

its still a wait

I know! I cant believe it myself. It's 6:20 and we have been here for approximately 11 hours. I
am shockingly dilated to 2 cm. For those who don't know, I have to reach 10 cm!

I am pretty much maxed out on my pitocin. The nurse came in and said that my NMU's are at 300, which is the highest a baby can take. Kaeden is a champ and is able to handle it....thankfully!

If you guys are out there reading this...please begin praying that my cervix starts opening up.

I am starving too. Haven't eaten since 6:30 this morning.

slowly getting there....

it's 4:30 and the doctor just checked me. They put an internal monitor in to check the intensity of the contractions. The pitocin is dosing at a high rate of 22 mL/hr.

I am only at 2 cm and I have a ton of fluids coming out...gross I know, but its a good thing. The baby is doing great. He's hanging in there pretty strong. He loves being in my belly and doesnt wanna come out!!

My parents should be arriving soon with LT to visit. Maybe the excitement will get me moving!

patiently waiting

So it is 3:08 pm and I am sitting in the hospital bed patiently waiting for the arrival of my new son. I thought this would be faster because they say it takes half the time of your first delivery. Well, I think that's a myth. We started inducing at 8am and it has been 7 hours already. My labor with LT took 14 hours.

I have to say the myth of being easier the second time is true. I sat here going through contractions and it was no where near as painful as last time. They just kinda felt like normal cramps. They broke
my water at 12:15 and I thought that would speed things up. My contractions got a little stronger, but nothing I couldn't handle. I finally got the epidural any way just to have it ready for delivery. It has helped because I can't feel any contractions at all. There were some negative side effects to the epidural though... My skin got really itchy and it felt like my left leg was all prickly.

I took a short nap, but feel like I am really ready to have the baby. I am starting to get impatient!

My parents stopped by just before I got the epidural. My mom brought some pretty flowers!
Somehow I will figure out how to attach pictures to my blog via email. Come back soon to check out my progress!

Ok so there's no way to post pictures via my phone...gotta wait until I get on the laptop.

On a final interesting note...my left leg is completely dead. I can't lift it at all. What did the anesthesiologist do to me? I am a bit freaked out!

What are they teaching my kid!?!?

Okay, I have been letting a few things slide at my daughter's daycare...but I am finally to a point where I need to put my foot down. Sometimes, we as parents must understand that we have to take responsibility in how we raise our kids. I often see too many parents who let school, daycare, and church raise their children. I don't want to be like that...instead I want to take charge in what I am teaching my child and not let others contradict the things I am trying to accomplish.

A few weeks ago LT's daycare teacher thought it was so cute that LT was kissing a boy in class and that the boy kissed her back. At first I thought, "oh that is cute too" but then it started to get out of hand. When I would pick her up they would say, "oh watch this..." and instruct LT to kiss the boy whom she was fond of. When I pick up LT, I am always given a sheet that shows what she has been doing all day. One day, I arrived and grabbed her sheet off the wall and noticed a picture of her and the boy kissing attached to the boy's sheet. I asked about it and they replied "oh the boy's father thought it was cute and wanted a copy of it". I wasn't so sure I was pleased that my daycare was taking pictures of two kids kissing and i wasn't pleased that the parents of the boy were requesting it. Am I going too far on this? Am I am being completely paranoid and out of mind? I am not sure, please leave any comments on your thoughts. I just don't think I find it acceptable to encourage this kind of activity. We teach LT to only kiss mom, dad, and family. It seems to me with this kind of encouragement, I can start to understand why 10 years olds are having sex and getting pregnant at age 11.

Now, onto my most recent complaint. The same boy that LT is fond of has a bigger vocabulary than she does. So the daycare has reported she is trying to learn all the words that he is learning. They noted on her daily sheet yesterday that "her vocabulary is getting so big now!". When I addressed this comment to see what words she is growing to say, one of them was "mine". I have heard LT say this several times at home, and we knew she got it at daycare, but have been trying to correct her. So when I found out they are promoting her saying that, it kinda upset me. We are trying to teach our daughter that nothing is ours...everything comes from God and we are to take care of everything and share with everyone. I am promoting sharing because I know that when baby #2 comes, this is going to be a big issue with her. Not to mention the fact that "mine" is a selfish derogatory word. Why would anyone allow there child to even let that be one of the words in their vocabulary? I know I am not over-reacting on this point because this is the way we want to raise our daughter. And what is more annoying than a kid who walks around all day repeating a brainless word "mine, mine, mine, mine!" and then doesn't share with others.

So I am not one to approach conflict, I would rather vent about it in my blog...LOL. But something needs to be done about the behaviors my child is learning at school. I know there will be an ongoing struggle throughout her entire childhood. But how can people think that kissing and being selfish is "cute"? I just don't see the connection? Maybe it is because she is so cute that they are blind to the repercussions of the problem.

As I mentioned earlier, if you have any suggestions or comments on how to handle this or even your thoughts on the matter...it would make me feel alot better to know what others thought.
